Social Network websites are not always a waste of time

MySpace has long been known for a great place to go if you wish to be discovered for your singing and acting talents. Many artists started their careers by posting their songs on MySpace hoping on of the Hollywood scouts will hear them.
Now, both MySpace and Facebook are being used for employment opportunities and professional networking and it seems to be working.
According to this report on Career One - Bosses Switching on to Social Networks by Henry Budd - these networking websites are being viewed less as distractions and more as a form of professional networking.
One of the workplace surveys conducted by recruitment company Robert Walters showed that the social networking websites are less distracting than a talkative colleague, and only becomes an issue if people spend their entire day on the websites rather than doing their jobs.
Social networks, if used effectively, can improve communication between colleagues and sometimes provide a venue for better socialising and lifestyle outside their professional environment, bringing the relationship between colleagues closer.
