Head-hunter - will it work?

Online job search engins are starting to be more creative for job seekers. From the traditional job hunting tools they are now introducing social-network-like tools to allow employers to search for job seekers.
In the beginning there was Reverse Jobs. - this website's main function is to "let jobs find you".
The My Career - Head Hunter - conducts online interviews and files resumes - is one of the newest addition to this style of job hunting.
I am yet to hear a success story on 'letting the job come to you' style job searching though. I've already thought this is a little weak, a little lazy.
Do you know someone who has actually, successfully found a job by someone looking for their resume and contacting them? Would you like to share their story? Because I am still a little skeptic.
