Today i discovered something positive about being the new guy!
I have realised that people come to you and bitch about who they don't like, give you all the gossip on how certain people got to the top, warn you about who to steer clear of, the list goes on!
I found it quite amusing - if you pose your questions the right way you can get everything you want out of them about all these people!
So this person hates this person because she slept her way to the top, but these other guys hate this other guy because he has a serious attitude problem, but this deprtment don't particularly like this department because they suck at what they do - or don't do for that matter. This woman is useless and a rude cow and the counter guy is totally stupid. And don't even get me started on the 2 IC - EVERYBODY hates him! Apparently the old 2 IC is coming back - he was really nice. The storeroom guys are total boys club - as with the stereo guys, actually - pretty much the whole store is a boys club. The backroom people have their own little club - and if your not in a club then you are ostracised - but i guess that is in all retail jobs.
It's quite funny - I'm just sitting back watching things happen as they come - and peoples reactions. I'm quite excited to find out what is next in my own little soap opera!
I guess it just proves the theory right that retail is an extremely bitchy place to work. Everybody acts like they get along, but when they turn their back the bitching starts to happen.
