My own project job search
April 22nd 2008 10:49
I thought I'd write a little about my own little project looking for a job up in Coffs Harbour.
Many of you know that I'll be moving up to Coffs Harbour (to support my partner who is studying university up there) in June and in need of a job. Although my manager had been looking internally in the company for a position for me to work remotely, there hasn't been much luck because HR is currently doing through a hiring freeze. So, I had to start looking else where.
Looking in the papers Flight Centre seem to be recruiting up in Coffs Harbour. I had applied for Flight Centre before in 2004 and wasn't successful that time. So I saw this as a 'sign' that I should try again.
So I placed my web application, had a telephone interview and did their online aptitude test and was through to a panel interview. During the interview, I was tested on my sales skills by having to try to sell the interviewer the pen I was holding, and was asked several questions about why I wanted the job and why I think I'll be a great travel consultant.
So, after doing all that I finally get a call from the recruitment centre to say I have passed through to the next and final round of interviews with the actual Coffs area manager. That's next Tuesday. So I'll be flying up this weekend and stay until Tuesday. Go for the interview and hope I get the job.
Apparently I am up against 7 candidates that wants the job, and there is only 1-2 positions. Having no sales experience didn't stop me and obviously the recruitment centre liked my attitude. So fingers crossed this manager will to.
Wish me luck will you?
