I quit
December 12th 2009 10:53
It's been a roller coaster ride, and a very rocky month... I've finally made a decision.
I QUIT.
I haven't found a replacement job yet. Probably a bit stupid to quit at the moment but you know what? I didn't want to start 2010 and still be working as a travel agent. Time to clean up my act, cut the ties and look hard at IT.
I haven't had much luck to be honest. I had a few interviews and only one of them is only slightly positive, and by Thursday I should know if I am proceeding to the next stage of the recruitmennt process. Meanwhile, I am applying on avarage 3 jobs a day.
It got me thinking. Perhaps it's because I am not writing my cover letter/resumes right. So I called a friend, who had been a lot more successful in finding a job than me (she also had a 3 years break from IT to do something totally different) - She is going to forward me her cover letters and resumes so I can see where I am going wrong.
The market is really picking up you know, even the experts are saying there is an unexpected drop in unemployment showing a good sign our economy really is better than we think. I can see for myself the amount of new vacancies that get posted every day. So there is hope at the end of the tunnel.
I am going to keep trying of course, never give up. 2010 is going to be good. I just have to believe in it.

Good luck and SELL yourself well, no-one else is going to do it.
You seem to have everything under control. Well done.

I spent a few years recruiting people for a major company, and if you don't mind I would love to see your cover letter. If you want me to have a look PM me and I will send my email address, for you to send a copy.
I don't want to suggest changes to your resume, because I am from the UK and things are different here. Feel free to send a copy just in-case I can hopefully give you ideas.
Katyzzz made a very good point about selling yourself, that's the secret. It's really essential that you get another job fast and I am happy to help.
Take Care
Chris
