Hate your job? Perhaps it's just a personality clash.

November 10th 2008 01:17
Ever wonder how some people seem to be born into their job while there are others that change jobs like they change their underwear but never seem to find the right one?

Perhaps it's time to reassess, it could simply be a clash in personalities.

Yes, jobs have personalities, and those with the right personalities will click together like a glue. I found this quick little test on CareerOne.com.au that checks your personality and give you career recommendations.

Guess what one of the recommendations to me was? A TRAVEL CONSULTANT!

I've been in the same job for years so I guess I'm either well suited to it or too lazy to look for anything different lol

Summary and recommended professions

An individual with this temperament style is a very detailed person who loves analysing data and working on repetitive projects with which they are familiar and where they can add some creative inputs to give them ownership and a feeling of security. With little need for people contact, they are well suited to roles such as:

Professional: Statistician; Actuary; Investigative Scientist
Skilled: Research Worker; Safety Analyst; Laboratory Technician

It kept asking me the same question and so I punched the PC.

That's the most idiotic survey I've ever done! And the results prove my theory. I could never do any of these jobs!!

Summary and recommended professions
Basically independent, an individual with this temperament style loves project work in an environment where they can immerse themselves and get recognition for the successful completion of their tasks. They don't mind repetition, as long as there is improvement as a result. Suitable roles would include:

Professional: Production Manager; Project Engineer; Estimator; Administrator
Skilled: Factory Worker; Plant Operator; Farmer; Chef; Electrician
