Project Job Search - December 2009

So after all these months of nothing, once I get an offer I took it straight away.

And then what happens? Another job I actually wanted more, called to offer me the role, and then since then, there has been invitations to interviews with every one else that I've applied for about the same time.

But you know what? I am sticking to the first offer. I am happy to be offered a role, and I am also happy to know that at least, there are places for me to go after..

The role I have accepted is a fixed term 12 months role, so eventually I'll be searching again, so this time I will be more prepared and I know if I persist there will be results.

Meanwhile, merry christmas and happy new year everyone! Let 2010 be a success one!

Got the job!

December 18th 2009 11:51
It's funny how things work out. A couple of weeks ago it was rejections all the way, and in the past week I was invited to attend 3 interviews and today, I received a call from one of them offering me the job!

Yay to me! LOL

And when I came home from work to check my personal email, there was another email there inviting me to attend interviews for another role I had applied for.

Wow.

Well, I will be a Business Analyst at a tertiary education institute. It's exciting work, the only thing is it's only a 12 months fixed term contract. But at least at the end of it, I would be in the industry and I know, I can definitely find something again.

Thanks for all your encouragements meanwhile! I start 4 Jan 2010, pretty much as soon as I finish with Flight Centre. So it's all working out well.

Reference checks

December 16th 2009 09:45
Yesterday afternoon I attended an interview for another potential role I had applied for back in October. It took them a while to get back to me, but I am glad they did, because today, I got a call from HR asking me if they could check my references!!

Usually when it gets to this stage it's a good thing. Even though no official offers has been made but they wouldn't be wasting their time checking references if they didnt think you were a good candidate for them.

I am very excited indeed

Although I am still waiting for other jobs to get back to me, and I do have another interview lined up for tomorrow afternoon, at least I know, someone out there does recognise my experience and that I won't be left unemployed in 2010!!!

The references I left them were all my recent managers, and they were all informed and apparently all said good things about me. So, fingers crossed!

Also - just wanted to thank Chris who volunteered to look through my cover letter and resume for me!

It's been a roller coaster ride, and a very rocky month... I've finally made a decision.

I QUIT
