Jobs during the Festival Season

November 28th 2008 10:05
It's the festival season again, and guess what? Some of us are not ready to party yet and are quite happy to continue working to earn that extra buck to buy presents...

Not a bad idea really. Although a lot of the work does slow down, festive season does bring a lot of casual work into the market to fulfill staff shortage due to leave and resignations (yes, somehow, christmas is always the time people do decide to resign!) - so, look out for them, and start applying!

Ever wonder how some people seem to be born into their job while there are others that change jobs like they change their underwear but never seem to find the right one?

Perhaps it's time to reassess, it could simply be a clash in personalities.

Yes, jobs have personalities, and those with the right personalities will click together like a glue. I found this quick little test on CareerOne.com.au that checks your personality and give you career recommendations.

Guess what one of the recommendations to me was? A TRAVEL CONSULTANT!

Most of us need stability in our lives, and that involve having a permanent job knowing exactly how much you'll be earning each month and knowing that you have your own desk, computer and stapler.

However, there are also many of us who simply don't like feeling stuck into an organisation, and those who would like to try a little bit of everything and everywhere, that perhaps, temping is a great way to go.

Temping isn't just for secretaries. The temporary workforce employment can range from office admin to chefs to project managers to teachers and nurses. It is simply a way for companies and organisations to find people for a short period of time to fill their staff shortage due to leave and other circumstances.

Another reason why temping may be a good choice for you is if you are between careers and want a little extra knowledge in another industry. Find a temp employment in your specialised skill in the field that you want to move into. At the same time of doing what you know best, you are also creating a network in the industry that you eventually want to be in. Temping can be a great potential for forming such job network and you never know that at the end of your contract, what you will be offered by the company.

There are agencies you can sign up with to find temp work. Try searching on temping.com.au to find an agency or job that would suit your needs.
